Keep in mind that that color of the yolk is dependent upon what the hen who laid it was eating...
Hens who eat a lot of plant material, like alfalfa, will produce much darker and deeper yolks than commercially raised hens who are feed mostly corn meal...
Farm eggs, like used in rural America and Europe, will have yolks that are deep, deep yellow, but eggs you commonly buy at the store aren't really as yellow. You would have to see them side by side to get the full impact.
By the way, the yolk is intended to be the food source for the developing embryo, so the color comes from stored proteins, mostly carontenoids.. which is why hens that eat a lot of green plants produce more yellow pigmented yolks than those who eat mostly cornmeal....
Also, freshly laid eggs have darker yolks than eggs laid longer ago, even from the same hen with the same diet....

The yellow color comes from sulfur, a necessary nutrient. The egg is the gold standard for complete bioavailable protein--rating higher than meat or milk or soy. It contains all needed nutrients to make a baby chicken, including sulfur.
