has anyone ever heard the phrase "you can only fall in love twice in your lifetime"
does anyone actually take that seriously? or believe it

I believe you could fall in love as many times as your heart can take it. There's probably a different threshold for everyone because you can only get hurt so many times before you start closing yourself up to new love because of fear of getting hurt.
So I don't think the phrase is true but I think there is a limit.

No this cant be true.Just think of the people who have married more than once.If it wasnt love,how come most of the marriages lasted for 10 years before the divorce?Also think about the couples who have been married to their spouse for more than 50 years.They would tell you that they fall in love with each other over and over again.

no, its crap. you can fall in love 30 times. the point is that each time you do and then it fails, your ability to do it again wains. so two times is just an estimate suggesting that anthing beyond that, you'll have nothing left to give and no faith.
