They make a big long log of mashed potato(it is about 880 yards long), bake/roast it and then they use a special Pringle cutter. This Pringle cutter(can also be used to make jumpers/pullovers) then cuts the log into the shape that is in the carton. Simple really.

During handling, some potatoes fall off the truck and get squashed, so,e are too mushy to sell from other causes. All those mashed and mushy spuds get scraped up and mixed in a vat, made into a paste which ins shaped when it is cooked so it will fit the can.
Pringles are not potato chips (or crisps if your a Brit.).

The potatoes are not cut like regular chips, they are basically mashed into little pieces and then reformed into that shape. Pringles are the particle board of the potato chip industry. But still tasty.

Um, actually Pringles are made from potato flakes (alot like Instant Mashed Potatoes). They're formed into that shape, so they're stackable.
They probably use ordinary Russet potatoes to produce them, because they're plentiful and inexpensive.

Pringles are made from reconstituted potatoes.
Think of mashed potato flakes shaped into a chip shape and fried.
