No, you are not going insane or becoming derailed. You just have a very active, visual mind. If it gets to the point of interfering with everyday activities, you can learn to channel it through meditation. When you allow your mind to wander in this controlled situation, it is less likely to happen when you don't want it to, kind of like allowing a dog to run and play in a fenced in yard so it will behave when brought indoors. Meditation is not only interesting and entertaining, but you will learn much about what is going on inside your own mind and soul. I find it very rewarding and has helped me to understand myself more than anything else. Blessings

Day dreaming is perfectly OK. Just don't let it take over your life to the extent that all you do is Day dream. You are not going insane or becoming mentally derailed at all.

I could not LIVE unless I 'day dreamed' ... and have, in fact, tried to commit suicide when I was on 'medication' for depression that 'cut me off' from my day dreams. I am a WRITER OF FICTION and MUST 'day dream' my ideas first ... my husband is a 'Fine Artist' (visual/pictures) and he also must 'day dream' his drawings before he does them. We are both people who actually 'use' their day dreams as 'sources' for our JOBS though, There are cases where 'day dreaming' becomes an 'obsession' and the person can't 'think clearly' about anything, and 'gets lost in' his day dreams ... or the day dreams start to 'speak out' on 'their own' or otherwise 'take over' their lives. THEN IT IS 'INSANE' but that's not a 'call' you can make unless you have a PhD. in Psychology or an MD with the speicalty of Psychiatry. If YOU are having this 'day dreaming' and you feel it is causing 'problems' in your life, then you need to seek help. Otherwise, I hope I've answered your question adequately.

I think a certain amount of day dreaming is healthy. It's an escape from stressful situations or boredom. However if it really interferes with the way you function on a daily basis or if you really believe your daydreams, then you need to seek professional help.

Only if it overtakes your life, or interferes with your job or family. If yo spend more time daydreaming than actually living, then it's a problem. But a little bit of daydreaming can be a good thing, and a nice escape.

The only problem is if it uses up your entire day. If you can function in life, then day dreaming is perfectly fine. Maybe you have the makings to be a great writer some day.

Insane? Only if you can't function day to day because you live in some fantasy dream.
