A genotype is the actual genetics behind the appearance which is the phenotype. For example, some people of Mexican Indian descent appear to have the same facial shape, eye shape, and skin tone as some people of Chinese background. These would be said to be of the same facial phenotype while almost certainly having different genetic types.
