Does the number "40" have any spiritual significance when it is used in the Bible?

The Hebrews were in the wilderness 40 years as they amde their journey to the promised land (Numbers 32:13). Moses met with God for 40 days to receive the ten commandments (Exodus 34:28). Jonah cried against the people of Ninevah for 40 days (Jonah 3:4). Jesus was tempted by satan in the wilderness for 40 days (Luke 4:2).

40 days seems to have a theme of redemption as you pointed out with the scriptural references.
