I agree the white strips do make the teeth sensitive. Maybe a good cleaning by a dentist first and check out the newest dental methods of whitening teeth. They have developed new and easier methods and some of the older methods, such as the tray and perioxide gel are not as expensive as they once were.

The best is to use something like Crest Advanced Whitening daily and 1-2 times a month, take a cap full of peroxide and use that to brush with. Not only will it help whiten the teeth, it also aids in killing the bacteria below the gumline, leaving a little tingle in the gums but a fresh feeling nonetheless.

Concerning the whitening and bleaching kits for teeth - almost all contain hydrogen peroxide, some contain acid. The main difference in cost seems to be the percentage of Hydrogen peroxide or other ingredients each kit contains.

So your cheapest method would appear to be buy a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and a tooth brush. Brush your teeth as normal , swish with hydrogen peroxide and -Do NOT swallow the hydrogen peroxide !
It may take longer than a kit but over time you could save a lot of money.
Side Effects :Hydrogen peroxide can increase temperature sensitivity in the teeth, particularly at higher concentrations, and night guards often cause gum irritation.Overzealous use of over-the-counter home bleaching products can wear away tooth enamel, especially with solutions that contain acid. - The American Dental Hygienists' Association
