I HATE ASKING FOR DUMB FAVORS, I DISLIKE PEOPLE WHO SIT DOWN ON THEIR BUTTS AND IMMEDIATELY ASK TO GET A GLASS OF WATER... WHAT'S THE PSYCH BEHIND THAT CRAP?

WHY WOULD SOMONE SIT DOWN ON THE COUCH AND IMMEDIATELY ASK YOU IF YOU CAN GET THEM A GLASS OF WATER... WHAT'S THE PSYCH BEHIND THAT CRAP? IF YOU SAY NO THEY ARE OFFENDED....I CONSIDER THE ASKING OF PETTY FAVORS AND VERY BAD HABBIT

I agree with you. That is one of my pet peeves. I have a friend just like that. She e-mailed the other day to get me to go to another floor, get her a coke and then take it to her. We work in the same building for crying out loud. I made her wait for an hour. I figured she would go get it for herself but her lazy butt didn't didn't. That was about the last favor I ever did for her.

I agree to a certain extent. Usually, the only people who do this are senior members of the family, so it's kinda an obligation to take care of them. If it's just someone being lazy, then it bugs me.

Also, if someone comes in to your house and sits down on your couch and asks for a glass of water, it's not a favor. It's your DUTY as the host of the house to provide them with whatever they need to feel comfortable. They shouldn't even have to ask for it. You should ask first. This goes for friends, relatives, door-to-door salesmen and anybody else who comes inside.
