Well the first thing that comes to mind is menopause hot flashes but you may have a condition called "Edema" which causes swelling. Do some research on webmd or a reputable site that lists symptoms and see if you can find a diagnosis. Then, of course, you will probably need to see your doctor.

Well I have gone through menopause and if you are just having it in the morning when you wake up I wouldn't say that was it. It does sound like something that should be addressed by an endocrinologist. They would be able to tell you if it was hormone related in any way to any of your body's hormones including female ones. It sounds like it may be related to your thyroid which is something that an endocrinologist would also address.

This sounds like the change of life right off the bat, but it could also be the signs of an underlying health problem like high blood pressure. Make a list of the symptoms you are having, even simple ones, and the times they hit you and how long you have been suffering from them. Take them to your doctor and see what he recommends. I know all of us hate going to the doctor and taking the time to do so, but it can really benifit you to do so. Your health is important and no symptom is too small for the doctor to take care of.

Have you ever been tested for diabetes? Even if it doesn't run in your family you can still get it, as I found out last year when I received that nasty and unwelcome bit of news about my health. The numbness you are experiencing may be the start of something called "neuropathy" and is associated with diabetes. Don't waste any more time--GET TO A DOCTOR/EMERGENCY ROOM AT ONCE !!! And please have a blood test taken to rule out diabetes.

Do you still get your monthly cycle? If not then it is menopause. most women get it in their 40's to 50's. My mom got it right after my little sister was born at 38.
