I need to lose 27 more pounds. I was hoping a vegetarian diet would do the trick. But it's going so slowly. I work out 3 days a week, and I'm an active mom of 3. I hardly ever have a chance to sit down. Why is it taking so long to get rid of the fat?

5 lbs. in 3 weeks is darn good.

People are so preoccupied with what number is on the scale. The mirror is a better judge of your work.

Well, you can over eat on a vegetarian diet as much as a normal diet (man, do I love beans!), so the key is to make sure that your calorie intake is in a range that will have you lose weight. If you are eating 2,000 calories of bread and cheese a day, you won't lose weight.

Start keeping a food journal. Count every calorie. Now, decrease that amound by 500 a day (as long as this doesn't make you dip below 1,200 per day), and over the course of a week, you will save 3,500 calories - or - you will lose a pound. The food journal might be tedious, but it will really shed a light on the problem areas in your diet.

I hate to give you a calorie range, since people with active lifestyles require more calories. Just make sure that you are eating enough calories. That actually might be the problem - you may be eating too few calories right now, in which case your body is in starvation mode.

It's because you're 13. You don't need to be losing any weight, just watch what you eat and you'll be ok. you're still growing...but just in case you didn't know muscle does weigh more than fat, so it could be that you lost 5lbs of fat but gained it back in muscle weight, don't look at the scale instead try looking at your body and be happy with the way you are, the way god made you.

Hmmm, i think vegetarians, and even more than vegetarians but vegans loose weight slower. Lean non-red meat helps you loose weight and feel full longer because its low in fat, calories and carbs, and really high in protein. Try the south beach diet. There's no drastic cut in really anything, you just eat whole wheat rather than white which a lot of vegetarian eat insted of meat which turns into sugar in your body. That's your best bet. :) And stay away from refined sugar, replace dessert with fruit, drink lots of water and green tea. Hope that helps mama

You need to eat meat with protein to make your body recover faster. The veg diet just makes people sick. Bad for body and skin. Just eat right. Drink water. You need chicken and steak in you. Protein...125g a day. Good luck.
