I actually just recently saw a show about this.

The dragon skin is made out of a padded materiel covering circular plates of titanium. These plates are all independant of one another so that force from a bullet can be spread out over an area. The vest itself looks like dragon skin, bearing scales.

First they showed what armor piercing rounds can do to a quater inch of steel. Those bullets passed through them as if they were going through paper. Nothing stopped those bullets.

Next they showed a bullet being fired at the dragon skin itself. Nothing passed through. They also stated that some armor being used today is only good for a shot or two. So they tested that out. They fired rounds after rounds of armor piercing bullets and still nothing passed through.

The inventor also created a way to divert the blow of the bullet throughout the immediate area of the hit, so the most damage a person can get is a minor bruise.

Lastly, they tested the vest by putting it on a dummy and setting it on a gernade. The front side of the vest was seperated from the backside and some decent damage was done to the exterior of the vest. But again, nothing passed through. Whether or not a person can actually survive from something like that I do not know. But he will not get hit with shrapnel.

It actually is really amazing and interesting this vest can perform so well. I do not know the price of this but I wouldn't think it would be that ridiculous seeing that it is a relatively easy concept to make.

Yes, I've seen it on the web site. But No, it doesn't stop 50 cal bullets. It stops rifle rounds (7.62 and 5.56). Dragon Skin is the brand name - it has different types of body armor.

Don't try to stop a 50 cal with any body armor... it could hurt you baaaaaad (to put it mildly).

Here's the link to the factory site. I didn't see it claiming .50 cal though. There's a ballistic chart on that site as well - nothing at .50 cal that I saw.

Iwas in the army and shot a 50 cal and no armor will stop that bullet, but it is suppose to stop small blast from killing you, but I would gladly keep my old vest with its big sappy plate because it's probably lighter.

Not until now. I didn't hear anything about 50 cal but sounds like it can stop a hell of a lot of AK bullets theres more here.
