My son had tubes put in his ears just before he turned 1. The tubes have recently fallen out. On saturday, I noticed fluid coming out of his ear. I took him to urgent care and he had ruptured his eardrum and had an infection in both ears. He will be 3 in March. Is it normal to get ear infections after tubes? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes is possible. my son has a hard time w/ ear infections. he has tubes to help with the natural drainage that the ears does. the doc did say he could be prone to have infections after the tubes fall out. the tubes are just instrumental in helping the ear. the body will soon do its thing with the ear but who knows when. good luck i know its no fun for you or you son.

Its common for tubes to have to be replaced multiple times. Yes it would not be uncommon to have an infection after tubes come out. The tubes apparently are still needed that's why they got infected.

My daughter had them put in again in april i trust she change into about a year and a 1/2 previous. She had the variety of tremendous variety of ear infections and it change into starting up to outcome her speach. The surgical operation itself change into absolutly no enormous deal she did not even cry afterwards there change into no discomfort in touch that i understand of or atleast she did not act like it in any case. Her speech has been recuperating ever because and has yet to have yet another ear an infection, she is two now very virtually 2 and a 1/2. i change into suprised that the military clinical docs at our frequent health facility had reported that she might want to no longer have tubes till she change into round 3 in spite of the undeniable fact that the ear nostril and throat professional reported that if she had reaccuring infections that it change into no enormous deal and she or he might want to be more effective powerful of.

He probably will need the tubes again. You'll need to talk to his ENT but our ENT said that it's not uncommon to need them to be replaced and if he's having problems with them being out than yeah, he'll probably have them replaced.

I've, also, heard that it's normal.

(My son will be 2 in a few weeks. He had tubes placed a year ago. I noticed him pulling on his ears this morning. How did you know they fall out? Can you see them? Please e-mail me. Thanks.)
