My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for years. Every month that we "try" my period is about a week late, accompanied by the worst cramps ever. They are so debilitating that I have to take Prescribed narcotics every few hours to get through them. I cant walk, I cant move... I can only lie in the fetal position in bed and cry till the pain dulls slightly with the meds.

BUT... On the months where we DONT try, My periods are PERFECTLY ON TIME, and my cramps arent that bad at all. I can function normally with just some ibuprofin.

Am I miscarrying? What is wrong with me? Has anyone else every had this happen? Please help me, Im completely lost, and dont know what to think about this.

Miscarriage means you actually have conceived (ie. egg meets sperm) but some how along the way, the baby never develops. Since you havent mentioned anytime you have missed your menstruation or showed any other sign of pregnancy in your question, its not likely that you miscarried.

Many women with severe cramps and fertility problems can be due to several problems. You OB/GYN should know what to do any may request several examinations like laparoscopy (a little camera in your belly), hysteroscopy(camera in your uterus), or hysterosalphigography (injecting dye in you uterus/tubes and taking X-rays.) But they would FIRST evaluate you with a non-invasive procedure like transvaginal ultrasound. This is a procedure that uses soundwaves to visualize whats inside. Its like radar, except through the vagina.

Be sure to check also if your partner may have current fertility problems like a low sperm count. Your OB/GYN should refer accordingly if they cant find a cause.
