I was charged with this on saterday and I have heard a number of different things about this from many different people. My dumba** friend got us busted by a rent-a-cop at a mall. When police arrived they seacrhed us for weapons and blah blah blah. I was given a $180 dollar infraction and when I asked the officer, he said I would not get my liscense suspended and if I plea guilty and pay the fine, this would bassically just go away. I have come to find out this is garbage. I went home and checked the law myself just to double check everything and went to many different websites saying many different things but all of them had more severe consequences than what the officers said. I consulted a lawyer and she said that if I am guilty of this, it results in a automatic 150 suspension of my liscense. She also said I could have been charged with a FELONY of contributing to the delinquency of a minor because I just turned 17 and the person in the car with me was 15.

The lawyer I spoke with said she thinks she can save me form losing my liscense since I have never had any sort of criminal charge or problems before. How good do you think the chances of her saving me are?

In my own defense (incase anyone cares and is judging me) is that I am a good person and NEVER EVER planned on driving drunk, I wasn't drunk when we were caught. I would never put my life and the lifes of others at risk like that. I usually keep to myself and never harm others. Also, if I was charged with contributing to the delequency of a minor, that would extremely unfair seeing as though I thought I was still a minor as well, and for all you people who are gonna judge me for hanging arounf a 15 year old, I have known him for like 8 years so it's sorta like a brother relationship.

I know the law is the law and I will accept the outcome of the judge, but I extremely disagree with the harsh penalty's of this. If I were driving drunk, that is a different story.

Yea I call my friend a dumba**, you seem like one too. Don't judge me because you don't know sh*t about the situation. Anyone giving this guy a thumbs up for insulting me is obviously ignorant and doesn't understand that sh*t happens and people make bad choices, but can learn from them. I learned from this a valuable lesson and this whole situation ( providing I see real justice and fair punishment) should make me a even better person.

You could indeed have been charged with a felony--and should have been, technically--you're lucky. Hopefully the judge will suspend your licence--and have you attend DUI classes, do community service, or both. Your actions were irresponsible--and you don't need to have a licence until you show a little more maturity. Judging from the tone of your question, that's going to takesome time.

You will get a suspension of your driver's lience no matter what...So that's a given..How manys days is up to your judge basicly, but the laws are differnt from State to state so get yourself a lawyer who deals in this specifily. Please learn from this cause it only gets worse if you keep getting these type of fines and your insurance rates will hike also.

my brother also got arrested for possession of alcohol under the age of 21.he ended up paying a fine and receiving probation for one year.the charges depend on how lenient the judge wants to be.but no matter what you get don't worry because once you turn 18 all charges made before that get swept of your record.with the license issue yes you could get it suspended but,for the longest one year and maybe a 500 dollar fine.

Get yourself a lawyer... if you check around with friends, they may know one experienced at getting charges taken care of with minimal affect on your driving record.

A lawyer who knows the ropes in your county would be your best bet.

Well kiddo...I would say you are screwed..I'm sure you don't want to hear that...but the truth is the best way to go....Next time you decide to drink while you are under age...I wouldn't do it in public..and I sure as heck would not do it at the Mall for crying out loud.....
