Totally understand the needle thing! I had all four out at once and one was impacted! They did sedate me although besides some killer downers they gave me a shot in the arm. Good Luck!

A little info I think should be considered about this drug Versed ( Midazolam ) that is used for Sedation for many medical procedures..Sedation and General Anesthesia are not the same and quite a few people being given Sedation
think they are being given General Anesthesia!
There is simply no good or valid reason to ever purposely induce amnesia during a medical procedure. It is only a recent development in medical thinking that amnesia is somehow a "benefit" to the patient. On occasion some
some patients will remember a bad experience. Forgetting does not mean it did not happen!!
I feel that if people were aware of the effects of this drug they would Opt For Another Drug!
Erasing someones memory of what was done to them is wrong!!
In fact, many people who use Versed for " IV Sedation,Conscious Sedation" Twilight Sedation, during a procedure are Awake For The Entire Procedure but remember nothing, often Believing They Were "Out" the whole time.
Versed (Midazolam) is an amnestic. It is also commonly used for minor procedures like setting broken bones, colonoscopies, endoscopies, dental procedures like extractions, conscious sedation, twilight sleep, so that patients won't remember pain and discomfort.HOWEVER THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THOSE SENSATIONS WILL NOT BE EXPERIENCED!!!!
Here is a note from a Dentist Who uses Versed
I've used Versed 1000+ times during oral surgery procedures and I've never had a complaint. It's a miracle drug because it is safe and it causes you to not remember an unpleasant experience. My answer to him is isn't it better to have not experienced the pain than to have forgot it. No wonder you have had no complaints they have no memory of the procedure.....
I feel that giving a drug for amnesia is cruel I would not want it done to me!
A strange development in medical thinking that it's okay for a patient to have
pain as long as they don't remember it and think they slept thru the procedure..

First of all, relax, you have nothing to worry about. You won`t feel anything during the surgery so you don't have to worry about it! If you don`t want to see anything just close your eyes or move your attention somewhere else (as your friend to bring a portable DVD/PSP/etc. or watch something on your phone). You can eat of course, but you will get a list of things you shouldn't eat for a while from the dentist. Probably the dentist will also give you some painkillers for the discomfort and some antibiotics to reduce the risk of getting infected while healing. I've got my wisdom teeth removed a couple of months ago without any complications or serious pain. I wasn't knocked out either (it is better this way) and I felt just fine!

Whether you get sedated or not, they will still have to numb you with a needle. The only difference is if you are sedated you wont even know what's going on. They can give you a pre-med which calms you down 1 hour before your apt. then they start the needle in your arm for the iv, then once you are out they will numb you. Good luck!

Absolutely. I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth extracted and I was in la-la-land for the whole thing. Now, they do have to put a needle in your arm to start an IV so they can give you the drugs to sedate you, but at least it's not a needle in your mouth.

Yes they usually do sedate you while they cut your wisdom teeth out. I had it done 3 years ago and I don't even remember how I got to the car after they woke me up. My husband says that I walked to the car but I don't remember any of it til after I got home, then I slept all day long.

Yes, they usually knock you out to remove your wisdom teeth. My advice to you is to go to an oral surgeon and not to let a dentist take care of it. Also, get them all taken care of at once so that you do not have a problem later on with the others and have to go through this again! Once it is done it heals pretty quick if it is done by a proper surgeon.

Yes, u can get gassed and knocked out.
I let the oral surgeon just numb mine and get it over with.
Put a teabag on the tooth til u get it pulled.
Make sure the wisdom is not under the jawbone, or u
will have serious troubles.

I had mine taken out under Novocaine, it really is not that bad! Most oral surgeons use smaller needles and you only feel a little pinch. It really is a preference.......
I watched him do mine in the reflection ion his glasses, it was pretty cool.
