Try to eat a healthier diet. Do things that make you feel good which leave positive thoughts in your mind. Be in a positive environment no matter what, meaning leave a situation that does not induce that happy feeling. Listening to music that makes you feel wonderful is a good way to start this off. Maybe you like sunsets or sunrises. Watch them. Maybe you find joy in people, or helping others. Go do those things, wherever you can. Eventually when you're focusing on the positive facts of life long enough, you can't help but feel incredibly happy and joyous.

You can't, not really; however, do you shop in order to make yourself feel beeter? Do you feel bad after buying something and wonder, "Why the heck did I buy that?" Are you extremely happy and energetic for a time and then severely in the dumps? Radical mood swings? Lose temper easily and then regret it? Experience these symptoms or combinations of these symtoms for extended periods of time, say several years? Have you ever been in line at the store, and get hyper nervous to the point of sweating and experience a truly over-powering feeling that you must get home, and feel calm once you arrive home? Have you maxed out more than one credit card, ratinalize how to pay it, obssess about it, but end up spending more and more? The chances could be high that you are Manic/Depressive. However, only medical test can tell for sure.

I'm bipolar, manic depression is a part of it. I took this test on a med. site and I fit all the symptoms of it. I took it to my dr. After some more test and questions I was diagnosed. It feels so good to find out that I have this illness, then to feel like I'm just crazy. Go see a dr. It will only get worse as time goes on. Don't hold things in, tell your friends and family that you need support. Don't be ashamed, it's not something you can help. All us bipolars have to stick together!!! :)

If you are having any doubts whatsoever (given your family history of bipolar disorder) you should plan on seeing a psychologist/psychiatrist. Of course you can't get diagnosed with it unless you've had a definite episode of mania or hypomania, so it's not like they are gonna run some blood tests and catch it early. Until you develop symptoms that meet all the criteria and are distressing for you can't know for sure.
Good luck!

You cannot know for sure without seeing a psychiatrist. The longer you wait on it the worse the symptoms get. Once you are diagnosed you can get medication which is very helpful. You should also get into therapy too, it helps you to deal with the day to day problems that come up. This problem is called Bi-polar now
