I am Mexican-American living in Texas and in both countries (Mexico and the US) it is considered rude to point at people. I don't think there is a problem thought w/ pointing at things...as long as a person is not in the way and might think u r pointing at them.

Interesting . . . I'm from the US and I'm not much of a pointer. I have heard many times that it is rude to point in public, however I think it primary applies to pointing at people. I've never been offended by someone pointing at an inanimate object -- so I'd say it's fine to point away.

some human beings imagine they could get by technique of with declaring and doing some thing, and some do, the most acceptable component you would have stated after wards become this: (in an truly loud voice) say, NO !! I wont sleep with you, your ill, and that i'm no longer that way, get remote from me........ and then step backwards remote from that man or woman. no longer in user-friendly words will it close that man or woman up, notwithstanding it's going to make everybody else end what they are doing and turn in direction of you 2 and stare, what you would have finished is by technique of embarrassing that man or woman regardless in the adventure that they were a guy or a lady and by technique of drawing interest to them they could have not in any respect line jumped lower back, and probable might want to have left the line all jointly.

It's not rude to point in directions or at objects, but not people. Those who think pointing at objects is rude are overzealous. Not all people are equally articulate; some just can't describe things in words what they need to point out and need to point at.

Directions and objects are okay, pointing at people is not. Which also means that pointing at an occupied vehicle isn't okay; you may intend to point out the vehicle but it will look as if you're pointing at the driver.

I believe it is rude to point regardless. People don't know if you are pointing at them or an object from far away. I nod at objects or describe them to the person instead.

I'm from America and I've been told by many people not to point. I guess it's different with each individual person.

You point in Texas and you are going to get your finger broken or shot off. I'd say it is rude here!
