Smoking anything can cause lung cancer. If used in comparable amounts, some scientists believe that marijuana can cause lung cancer. However, research suggests that those who smoke only marijuana compared to those who smoke cigarettes have a lower rate of lung cancer. Some theorize that this is because marijuana smokers smoke much less than the average tobacco smoker (smoking 1-2 packs of cigarettes a day). Some scientists even think THC has an anti-cancer effect.

Any substance that is repeatedly inhaled into the lungs can cause cell mutations. Once these cells mutate they serve no purposeful function and begin to grow at a faster rate without regard to boundaries. Essentially this is how a tumor forms. Has marijuana been proven 100% to cause lung cancer? No...but hopefully most well informed individuals just know the risks are there and way too high.

Marijuana does not cause lung cancer, but it is a risk factor. Smog, cigarettes, second-hand smoke, etc, are all risk factors of lung cancer, but they are not necessarily causal. Some people smoke their entire lives and never develop cancer or bad health for that matter. Heredity and environment are interwoven and it is dependent on BOTH factors whether or not someone will develop lung cancer.

Like anything you take into your lungs, over a prolonged period of time, tar and other buildup can indeed lead to lung cancer...though personally, I think tabacco is far worse with all the tars, at least Marijuana is more natural;)

Probably the same odds as tobacco. Some people smoke all their lives without problems, my grandmother died of lung cancer and NEVER smoked anything. When its your time, its your time!
