The Nord Express was a long lived famous train, the original beginning operations in 1896, following years of resistance from the Prussian State Railways that didn't like the idea of a German train operating over Prussian rails. It operated until at least 1978.

Another class were the D-trains run by the Prussian State Railway to Germany, which was a vestibuled corridor train for which supplemental fare was paid.
