All allergy medicines work differently for different people. I've tried tons over the years and right now I'm on zyrtec. It's obviously not over the counter, but it works for me. if seems like you're wanting something over the counter though. I suggest going to the pharmacy and asking the pharmacist. It's their job to know that kind of stuff and they'll be happy to help you out!

Good luck!!!

The older medicines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can cause marked drowsiness. This is over the counter (OTC)medication.

The newer medicines like Claritin (Loratidine) is generally non sedating(non-drowsy). Also over the counter medication.

Different medicines treat different symptoms. Ask your doctor which is best for you.

The only thing I found that works best for me is zyrtec and you should take any allergy medicine at night. It works better.
