One time I had broken my tooth and the pain was awful.A friend of mine gave me a Valium and told me to sit it on my tooth and let it melt.I took the pill and shoved it up in my molar and about 5 minutes later my front teeth went numb, this was a back tooth I did this to .Well needless to say I never had a tooth ache or pain again.I went to the dentist a year later to finally get the tooth pulled because the jagged edges were scraping my jaw, I explained to him(dentist) what I did and he said I can see you have fried your nerve, that's a good idea though that you came up with.Just a suggestion it worked for me.

Breaks (fractures), of permanent teeth must be checked by a dentist. Deep fractures or cracks can lead to inflammation, infection, or death of the tooth. The center of the tooth (pulp) must be protected within a few hours of the injury to increase the chances of saving the tooth. Root canal treatment or a restoration may be needed. The cause of the pain in your jaw might be due to the lymph glands being inflamed by an infection caused by the fractured tooth . This may infect the middle ear and the resultant infection may cause your ears to be blocked and also painful. An infection in the ear that is not attended to can lead to serious problems, not least of which may be infection of the covering of the brain (Meningitis). From the symptoms that you describe, you would be advised to contact your doctor and dentist at your earliest opportunity.
Hope this helps

Yes. It sounds like you have an infection in your tooth.
Go to the dentist! You'll feel better.
(This happened to me in October)
