Keep in mind that a claim must be answered in a reasonable amount of time. To do that the company must investigate and make a finding.

If you are not satisfied with the way that they are doing things you have several recources

1) Contact their main offices and ask why the local one is taking so long...

2) Contact your states department of insurance or insurance commissioner with the same question

3) Consult with an attorney for advice and possible action

4) Bring about a small claims suit against the proper party if this is a viable action (if it is YOUR insurance company that is waffling, it is called suing for 'Specific Performance' - not damages).

But keep in mind that you will have to show that the time they are taking is unreasonable...not just from your point of view but from a general industry standard.
