You can do some toning/firming exercises, combined with cardio/diet. The best overall exercise by far to strengthen your core and tone your upper/lower back are push ups. You can do a modified version on your knees, if doing the typical plank position is too difficult. You could even do them while standing and against a wall. Also try these:

Lat Rows
Tricep kickbacks
Tricep Dips
Chest Press
Front jabs similar to Taebo
The warrior pose in Yoga
Several types of sit ups
(Find all of these online for pictures. Check out ACE website)

Also, the best overall toning exercise that is easy on the joints is Pilates. You can join a class or find some really great DVD's out there. You can get new and used ones on www.half.com.

There is a great overall workout/toning DVD called "Quick fix Total Mix" that incorporates all kinds of exercises you can do in 10 minute segments. it even allows you to desing your program.

Watch your diet especially. You will find that no amount of exercise or strenghtening work will benefit you if you do not also incorporate healthy and low fat eating. Your cardio will be a factor too and you need not go running if that isnot your thing. Power walking is great too. Just try and do a minimum of 3 30 minute high powered sessions per week.

God luck. You will start to see results within 2 weeks if you are diligent and disciplined!

As much as I'd love to say something definative, the only answer is cardio. Sorry. You are getting 30 minutes a day, and that is FANTASTIC!

You might want to switch it up a bit - if you are running, try swimming. If you are swimming, try tennis. You don't have to do it everyday - just enough to cross-train and keep your muscles guessing.

There is no way to spot reduce fat. I had to lose 15 pounds before I lost the back fat, and even then there still was some. My focus has shifted from pure weightloss to improving fitness, and the back fat kind of comes off slowly still.

do the "twisting" motion, while holding but maybe to start go with a smaller weight, but twist and punch the air,,, in several degrees, up high down low , mid, all while twisting your torso and leaving you legs stationary, but you can bend the knees and get in a thigh and hip exercise at the same time while doing squats during this... imagine a boxer, punch the air like a boxer while twisting you body.. bleh its hard to write things that need visuals... but ive done this forever and its an amazing way to tone up your lower back and torso and its fun... if you get a punching bag that too will also help really do powerful swings with your arms and really twist the bvody when you punch the bag... its great for cardio and its fun... but in your jjourney good luck ♥

The absolute best thing you can do for this is lots and lots of cardio.... Aside from that, try doing lunges with a weight, and when you go down, twist to the side of the leg that is out in front of you with the weight. that will help tone it up, but the cardio will help lose fat.

You cant pin point an area on the body to lose fat. You just need to keep doing cardio and light weight training (to build muscle to cut fat) for a while until the hardest parts of your body to lose weight, slim down. good Luck

Fat is fat- if it's on your back, it's probably other places, too. A diet and exercise is the only way to do it. Hand weights will help to tone your arms and back, but you need to drop fat all over.

I hate backfat!!!

Back excercises such as shoulder press, lat pulldowns, flys, and just regular pushups should help.

i recently bought a pilats tape and it had A LOT of things on it that seemed to work that area!! one ofthem was laying flat on my stomach on the floor and doing like a push up thing, you keep your waist on the ground.
