If they truly just chatted about politics no, not a cheater. As you can drum up a conversation about topics like that just about anywhere. The real question is...why was he on line chatting (i.e. what kind of chat room, what was he looking for) and of course...why did he feel the need to tell you. That is the part that I think is strange. For example if I was in a bookstore and started a conversation up with a stranger who was a male, I would;t necessarily rush right home and tell my mate about it...as it was a harmless chat and in the grand scheme of things would;t really matter.

One how did he meet this girl? and if it was a dating site or some other similar site then why was he on there? There are other sites that you can go to that have chatting about a particular subject and if he is chatting with people there I don't see the harm in it as long as that is all that is happening, Not all chats with the opposite sex are for just sex or flirting but can help with learning.

No, that's just talking to a person about politics, no matter if it's female or male.
BUT, if you discussed anything else of a personal nature you kind of are betraying her.
The best thing is if you're feeling something then talk to your girlfriend rather than someone else. She'll appreciate your straight-forwardness and honesty.

No...if that was exactly what the online chat was totally about. Also, I wouldn't concider it a threat to the relationship...unless, he started talking to her everyday...and confiding personal information like, "My gf and I got in a fight today..blablabla." Set limits for both of you. Communicate. Gently.

Not if it was about politics only. BUT allot of harmless chats turn to other things so be careful he could get addicted to chatting on-line.

If this is true, then right now he will let you see the email. if he does not want to show it to you, then you know it is more to his online, day of life. and you just hop along, and move on with your life, so he can get back on line. That is your que to find someone, who wants a real woman!

No. Wait until you find some evidence of him doing something wrong. It's ok to talk to members of the opposite sex. Remember: paranoia KILLS relationships. :-)
