Can I paint it with some latex wall paint? can I make a new one from an old bleach bottle? can I cover it with something like food wrap? or ?????

get some fabric paints and paint it in lieu with ur curtain colours...or ur pillow colour...dese paints r cheap n permanent

spray paint will work best, but a roller or brush could be used. You can glue an interesting edge around it to change the whole appearance. You could even glue old pictures from vacation on it.

Guess you could do any of the things you suggest. Another low-cost option is to check around at the local thrift stores...Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc....they carry lamp shades, and you could probably find one cheap.

Find some cool material and get your glue gun heated up. I watch "decorating sense" you get lots of great ideas from there.
