I would go with a certified preowned car from Honda, Toyota, or Nissan... it will be a good car with a warranty... if it isn't certified by the mnaufacturer, have it checked out, start your research here...

All cars suck, and new cars suck even worse. They all break - and having a warranty doesn't gaurantee that you won't be miserable with a car that breaks down all the time, or that you won't still end up out thousands of dollars in repairs that the warranty doesn't cover.
As soon as you drive a new car off the lot, it begins to depreciate. A lot of cars if you were to do a u-turn back into the lot and try to sell them, you wouldn't be able to recoup even half of what you paid for them.
Your best bet is to check out low mileage used cars - most will have a transferrable warranty, and you won't get raped for a decent accessories package. You can also talk more of a deal when it comes to used cars (though it sounds like you are more than willing to throw money at a dealer as long as the car has leather seats and looks 'sexy').

You may be able to find a 2004 BMW 3 series. Those are very good looking cars. It may be a bit harder to find.
The Chevy Cobalt Coupe is a good looking car as well. You could probably get a new one in your price range. Or maybe a Pontiac G5 or G6 Coupe. They are a bit more expensive than the Cobalt, but have upgraded features.
Volkswagen Rabbits are also good looking and look like a lot of fun to drive. You could get a brand new one in your price range. Also Volkswagen Beetles. They are a lot of fun, and cute! You may be able to find a used VW GTI, they have quite a bit of power. Jettas are also nice.
Good luck! There are a lot of nice cars on the market in that range! Edmunds.com is a good place to research cars.

The leather seats thing might be the deal breaker. There are plenty of vehicles in your price range and year range. The one thing is leather seats though, you may be able to find a Honda or a Toyotta with leather seats in that year range, but it might be difficult. You will have to rule out almost any BMW or other luxery vehicles just because of the year thing. I believe that Ford 500's have a leather seat option in your price range, but I think Mazda Miattas do as well.
Try to narrow down if you want a SUV, 4 door, sports car, etc. You have plenty of options in your range.
Best of luck!
