I'm writing an english paper where I need to use an extended metapor for love. I've chosen to write my letter on hidden love. Any suggestions would be helpful as long as they are tangible!

Not real sure what you are asking but I'll take a chance.
If you are looking for how people hide there love of a person or thing:
(hypothetically)
If I really like a person because of some trait or quality, but he is married, my love would remain hidden out of respect for his partner.
If I like a person, and the group of people I associate with do not, and express their dislike of the person; I may say I do not like him/her because it would be 'uncool'.
If I love to do something outside of the norms of society-- like say, pick my nose and eat it (I know, gross) I may deny I do it out of shame/embarrassment.
