Depends on what you used. Did you buy it from Wal-mart or a salon? Is it a grease (pomade, petroleum based)? Most African American products are made to provide and retain extra oils . African American hair needs extra oils.

To remove the feeling of excess oil, do not use African American shampoos & conditioners. Use Paul Mitchell Cleanse or Matrix Sleek Look shampoos & conditioners. If you want to add moisture without an abundant amount of oils, use Kera Care products. It adds more moisture without the heavy greasy feel. You can find Kera Care in JC Penny Salons, Regis, & even Wal-mart salon. The price range is $6-15. It's quality stuff and made for all hair.

Next time you get the whim to go down the African American Hair care aisle at Walmart, stop. Go to a salon that services all hair types and ask for help when choosing products.
