As an adult, you have the right to change you name, but removing his name from your birth-certificate may be challenging because he adopted you and if you know where your real dad is, and he is willing to come forth, and state his claim than that's another avenue. How's about a blood test request that would definitely start the ball moving..
Good Luck

First you cant. He legally adopted you. So you can not have him removed anymore then someone could have the bio-father removed unless the child was adopted and the birth certificate changed for that reason.
As for you changing your name. You need to go to the court house get the correct paper work on it. You will have to pay for this and run an ad in your local newspaper for so many weeks before they will let you change your name. Its an expensive ordeal.

First of all if you were adopted he is your father and the name cannot be taken off of the certificate of birth. However, you can change your name, the state i live in it costs 500 to do that so it is an expensive issue. Do you really despise him that much??
If so, good luck to you in getting your name changed but it will cost.
i am almost positive that you cannot remove his name from your certificate of birth though, but you can check with the department of vital statistics in the state you live in and the laws may be different there. either way good luck to you!!

Iam sorry to hear that you went through that ordeal. The best way for you to handle this is to find it in your heart to forgive him. It doesn't mean you have to put yourself in a position to be abused by him again or to even have him in your life. But even if you do remove him from your birth certificate, no removal of his name from a piece of paper can remove the hurt and pain you feel by what has happened to you.
Forgive yourself first and then seek the Lord to be set free from the damage it has caused you.
You can overcome this.

You have to go to court, and pay to have your name changed. It is just a matter of paying the fee, and filling out the papers, or you can hire a lawyer to do it!
