She may have soriases of the skin. If your cat is scratching a lot this may be the problem. You may call a vet and ask them your question or take the cat to the S.P.C.A. and maybe they can help you. I don't think that they charge as much as a vet does. Try putting a lubricant salve that is non toxic to people and pets on the sores a few times a day to see if this helps. You might try bathing the cat in baby shampoo to see if this helps too!

How big are the spots? Does she go outside? How old is the cat?

I just inherited a stray kitty and took it to the vet (whew!$$$$$)
well he had a wingworm and got a prescription for a cream and they went away. I also put colloidal silver on it.

more on colloidal silver....its great for people and pets, I have given it to my cat for about 5 years now after he had reoccuring Urinary Tract INfections - now if he gets one 1/4 - 1/2 tsp in his water for a day or two and he's back to normal. I recommend this only after you know whats wrong w/ the kitty....
Colloidal Silver -
The Rediscovery of a Super Antibiotic?
Colloidal silver appears to be a powerful, natural antibiotic and preventative against infections. Acting as a catalyst, it reportedly disables the enzyme that one-celled bacteria, viruses and fungi need for their oxygen metabolism. They suffocate without corresponding harm occurring to human enzymes or parts of the human body chemistry. The result is the destruction of disease-causing organisms in the body and in the food.

The presence of colloidal silver near a virus, fungus, bacterium or any other single celled pathogen disables its oxygen metabolism enzyme, its chemical lung, so to say. Within a few minutes, the pathogen suffocates and dies, and is cleared out of the body by the immune, lymphatic and elimination systems. Unlike pharmaceutical antibiotics, which destroy beneficial enzymes, colloidal silver leaves these tissue-cell enzymes intact, as they are radically different from the enzymes of primitive single-celled life. Thus colloidal silver is absolutely safe for humans, reptiles, plants and all multi-celled living matter.

I love the colloidal silver and I have done extensive research on this - you should too...get from good source so that you will know its good (always buy in dark colored bottle - it protects the silver)

My Maine Coon has that problem occasionally.

My vet says it is a skin allergy.....more common in long hairs and pure breds. (Flea bites, even just one or two, can start the problem.....but dry skin can just be 'dry skin'.)

My vet prescribed steroidal pills to calm the itch and amoxicillin to fight any infection. The condition improved within 3 days and, after a week of treatment, stays away for months.

Ask your veterinarian....if they know your cat's condition and have seen her within the past year..... they may well provide medication prescriptions without a special examination.

extremely dry skin probably becuase of heaters in the cold weather. Try giving her 1 lightly beaten raw egg every day either mixed with her food or by itself if she'll eat it. Raw eggs do wonders for a cat's skin and fur. If you see no improvement after 10 days, then its time to consult a vet.

Possibly just dry skin. Doesn't hurt to take it to the vet or at least call and see if its something to be brought in for.
