My fisrt memory of reading ever is carefully reading syllable by syllable on my father's lap as he read the newspaper. I guess I was somewhere around 4 or 5 years of age. I rtemember the shock on his face, and the gaze he shot in my mother's direction.

I loved it instantly. I had respiratory problems as a kid in the 60's, so reading was a huge entertainment for me. I remember my mom driving me to the local library every week. I piled up as many books as I could carry out the door and read every one. I read all the fairy tales, biographies, all the childrens classics. Now I love to write.
