Yes. They sure can. We call it aspiration when they choke. They also have something called a crop, where all their food goes to digest. Some substances when digested turn into a rubber that is fatal to our birds.

Another thing that can happen is that they can aspirate if water gets into the little holes above their beak.

Yes they can. Once my parakeet choked on a seed (it was even parakeet food) , but he was able to spit it up. When he spit it up it went halfway across the room. So be careful that the food isn't too big for your bird. I thought my bird was going to die, but he is ok now.

Yes, but it would be a rare event due to their tough horned bill that crushes most foods into the appropriate size to swallow. Have a tweet year.
