Apparently they don't teach History in school anymore. Otherwise you would have heard the quote, "If you want peace, prepare for war."

What that means is simple: An enemy will not attack a stronger enemy in conventional warfare. There are nations and peoples all over this planet who want nothing more than to conquer and subjugate people weaker than themselves. If you've ever been in a History class, you know this pattern well.

To make a simple analogy: If a crime organization wants to move into and take over a town, will they choose a town with a strong, organized law enforcement established, or one with a weaker or negligible law enforcement establishment? I can't make it any simpler than that.

Because it's a very naive thought that putting down all weapons will instantly result in peace.
