Whenever I cut my blood won't stop coming out, last time I was really light headed and almost passed out. Any suggestions besides to stop cutting. Is it because of the blood thinners I take for my high blood pressure? Even though I take blood clotters for right before I cut. Or is it because I cut too deep? I don't think it is. I mean I only ever cut like 1/4 of an inch deep, is that irregular? Please I need help.

Hello!

I have to start by condemning your actions of cutting yourself. It's dangerous, stupid, and you may have a severe mental disorder, and should probably seek help.

However, I'm not here to preach, I'm here to answer. If you are bleeding to the point of fainting, your brain is glitching, you need to cut less deep, and less total cutting. 1/4 of an inch is a pretty serious laceration, you can mangle a lot of blood vessels. The biggest thing you should consider is the interaction of blood thinners and self-mutilation. You should probably give one of these up to prevent possible fatal blood loss. Combining thinners and coagulants can also be a bad idea, I would never reccommend coagulants ot anyone taking thinners. By that same measure, you should not take blood clotters unless you have a medical need for them.

So, I ask you reconsider your behavior, and if you insist on continuing it, you MUST reconsider your methods.

I draw blood at my job, and many of the patients are on Coumadin, which helps prevents blood clots. I know that depending on the dose that they are taking, I have to apply pressure for sometimes up to three minutes.... and that is only from a tiny needle puncture. If you are cutting deep, and I think that 1/4 seems deep, and you are on blood thinners, you will bleed for awhile. The medication is doing its job, and it doesn't matter when you take the meds because they will still be in your system (unless you have stopped taking them for a few days). Just be careful not to cut next to an artery because you could bleed to death.

The blood thinners will definately have an affect on how your blood clots. You may also be cutting to deep. You could also be cutting in an area that is likely to bleed more.
You need to see a therapist to find a way to feel emotional pain with out cutting. There are several ways to acheive this. But it has to be a choice by you.

That would be the blood thinner sweetie. I know all about cutting so I know not to lecture you to stop like all these other people have. If you dont understand why people do it please dont put us down for doing it. Just choose not to answer the question. I have borderline personality disorder and know about cutting. Talk to your psychiatrist and your pcp. Let them know you cut if they dont already and tell them that you hve been getting really light headed and you are bleeding a long time afterwards. You may get the same bull from your pcp that you got on here about stopping the cutting but tell them if you are not in a position to stop and ask them what you can do. You have to be honest with them so that they can help you. Be safe and be honest with your doctors so that they can help you.

Cutting is irregular. Why is stopping not an option? Cutting while on blood thinners is not only a desperate cry for attention, it's tempting death. Stop, there are other ways to get positive attention and feel better about yourself.

Why in the world are you cutting yourself? You answered your own question. Blood thinners is why you bleed more than normal. Apply pressure and leave the pressure on open wound till the clotting process starts. At least 10 minutes or so.

First off why are you cutting yourself???? Have you got a problem
Yes your blood would be thinner since you take a blood thinner for blood clots. Any fool would know that.

I don't take any meds but my blood is thin cause I have Type "O" blood.

Sorry I have to say this...QUIT cutting. Get some counseling and deal with the problem(s). It takes awhile and intensive therapy yet it works. If you MUST cut then sugar will usually clot the blood but I would NOT recommend it.

The blood thinners make your blood too think to clott on its own. I suggest you stop cutting on you. =o)
Otherwise you will be light-headed and dizzy more often. You may even passout and bleed to death. If this is something you want to do, then its your choice. Please spare us on yahoo...
