How much should I tip my friend when we leave? As he will be paying for the food at the counter, he will be presenting a 'bill' for us. My waiter friend does not work at McDonald's, he will just be there as anther customer, but in addition be a waiter for my table. He will dress appropriately.

If you stage the whole affair with some more advanced planning it could be very fun.
Ideas: Talk to the manager who will be on duty to set up a reserved table. Maybe you friend could set the table prior to you and your date's arrival.
Have the table set with a white cloth and flatware. Perhaps have some candles flickering when you and your date arrive.
Make a little show of the date. It would sure bring smiles to the faces of the other customers, not to mention your date.

Added Details: What's with all these stick in the mud humorless people in here? Nobody's being mocked by this idea for a date. People, please lets laugh and enjoy this young fellow's sense of humor.
If the young woman is offended by this creative date, then the fellow should move on and find a girlfriend who enjoys the abusrdity of the moment he has created!

Look, Its never really about where you go or how much you spend as it is about making it special.There is alot of people in this world who are lucky they can even get a meal out because of being poor so anything to them would be a treat.And then there are others who are in financial freedom and can have all they want.Just because someone is rich and can buy someone lobster and fillet doesn't make them anymore special or capable of love and feelings than anyone else.Love and feelings are priceless.Sounds like to me you understand that and are going about it the best you can.Enjoy!

I think that it is cute if you are in high school.
But not if you are older unless you met her at a McDonald's.
Try making a picnic basket and taking her on a picnic or take her to a drive in theater, (they do still have them).
Try making her dinner. There are alot of suggestions that could be made even if you are low on cash, there are better things than McDonald's.
You should know her, will she think it is cute and if you think she will then don't listen to anyone else go with your gut.

That is hillarious. If she is cool with your creativity you could prob pull it off. Show her you are a big play'r and tip the waiter/friend 20%. That is what u give for exceptional service.

Absolutley Not!! She will be SO embarassed. Degrading a woman in public is the EASIEST way to lose her attention and affection. If this happens your waiter friend will be the only person benefiting from this horrible idea for a dinner date. If you are that broke just take her on a picnic. Much cheaper and much nicer for your girl.

In a sense....it sounds cheap, also kinda neat all at once.Throw in a few candles,a flower, and the least active part of the restraunt,and i think you will not only pull it off, but surprise yourself with the results.The tip......buy him two movie tickets in advance, leave that for him.Who knows maybe he'll take you!

I think it is a very cute idea... If you could get him to unwrap your food at a seperate table and put it on nice plates and if the resturant will allow you to light a candle and put it in the center of your table then I think it would be a very cute and unique date.
But remember, you have to keep a straight face and take it completly seriously. Make a show of it.

I LOVE IT! Have her get all dressed up, too. Make sure you let her have anything she wants from the value menu. Do you have another friend who would valet your car? LOL
