I have entered the USA with a visitor visa.I have a green card file also.Can I legally apply to stay here and also work till my visa number will be issued for the green card .My whole family are living in US.

as a mexican person i can tell you that for people like you is that everybody thinks illegal aliens just want to take advantage and "steal" the american citizens' jobs. it's a shame that you want to stay in usa just because your family is here. why can't you do it the right way? why can't your family help you to get the green card? are you telling me they are here with tourist visas? shame on you! no wonder why americans hate us and talk sh*it about us all day long in yahoo answers!
if you do it the right way it would be better for everybody!

This is a flamer. You know you cant work with a visitor visa but what the hell. The governments on your side. Make sure you take Grandma and the kids to get free health care

Look find a good immigration attorney and he will help you with the whole legal process. There are not short cuts with the immigration service. An immigration attorney will tell you what is required and what you must do. Looks like you will have to get their services to do everything by the book as it should.

You can apply. There is an approval process which may be approved or denied.
If you overstay your visitor visa, you are guaranteeing yourself a denial though.
