It is just one window and its the window that lets the light in. The window is about 2 normal window sizes put together. I dont want another dark color .. so i was thinking something lighter .. but i really don't know!

Dark Chocolate, fortunately, matches pretty much everything. You can go with a sheer fabric/curtain in colors such as cranberry, sage, rust/orange. If you go with a cream, at least have some sort of pattern or print on it. Since this is the window that lets the light in, i suggest a very light fabric, sheer, if possible. Or perhaps a very long scarf valance, it will add color but will not sacrifice the light at all. Actually the scarf valance allows you to play with two or more colors at once.

Are there any accent colors in the room? Pick something that works with the paint color and that is the room already. You could also stay close to the wall color, or get some pillows (in a great color) and get your curtains to match them. I have dark brown bedroom furniture, yellow walls, and dark brown velvet curtains. I like it, but it's not for everyone. If you decide to try the dark brown curtains, Target has some great affordable ones. I made the mistake of getting mine for a million dollars at Pottery Barn. You can always try colors out, then bring them back. Good luck.

There are 3 options that spring to mind, depending on your preferred style and what would tie in best with the rest of your house. 1) My favourite would be teal, which compliments creams and browns and is quite contemporary. You could choose a light teal like Blue Reflection or a deeper shade like Teal Tension, both from Dulux. 2) For a natural look, go for greyish greens but try out a few tester pots first, green is a very hard colour to guess how it will look from a sample card and looks quite different in different lights, so check it day and evening time. 3) If you want something with a bit more of a wow, either deep red or fuschia pink will get a reaction - use it sparingly though on the walls and add more of it in cushions, throws, etc.

What color are your walls? What accent colors do you have in the room?
Dark chocolate brown is, well, brown. Brown is a neutral color so anything "goes" with it.
It's the colors in the rest of the room that you want to come together. If you want to let light in even with the curtains closed then opt for a lighter fabric in a lighter color. If you want to be able to keep light out at times of the day then I would go with a deeper hue of what you have in the room.

I have got a lovely chocolate brown leather corner sofa. My walls are cream and my curtains are a biscuit colour with a chocolate brown band around the top. It looks really great. I would definately not go with dark curtains (or khaki!!!) but with a nice fresh cream/biscuit colour. Verrrry modern.

If your walls are also dark, off white or beige curtains would bring out the color in the furniture. If you walls are light you could use a darker beige or dark tan color in curtains. My walls are burgundy and furniture is beige. I have white trim and white curtains. Looks great....
