grow a spine and tell him what you told the internet. don't flatter yourself thinking that you're the best thing that will ever happen to him and you'll break his poor widdle heart. it's been three dates... he'll get over it. be honest, and if he's not mature enough to handle it and stay friendly, then it's his problem, not yours. otherwise, you're just wasting his time.

A single lie can sometimes drastically change events. I don't think it would be a good idea, especially in this case when you don't need to. If you are trying to spare his feelings, you can still be honest. I would recommend "I don't think this is gonna work out between us." He says "what do you mean?" You say " I just don't think we are compatible. It doesn't feel right"
Now let's say you go with the "i want to be single right now" line. How do you think you will appear if you are dating a guy a week later?

I would be honest with him no matter what if he digs you
whatever youtell him truth lie or whatever he will be hurt
Tell him you like him as a friend and respect him as that
and that is whats important to you right now!! Do not lie to him
he will respect you later for it.I believe in telling the truth
and being staight up with someone not dilly-dalling around
it..Be a straight up person not a dilly-daller...

Tell the nice guy you're only looking for friendship and that there's someone else. Don't use the "single, not looking for relationship" because that usually backfires and then you have to explain why you jumped into a relationship with someone else within a week of rejecting him.... it's tricky- I've been there.
As for guy in college- you're supposed to want to see your bf every day, it should be exciting not awkward

Tell him in a nice way that you are not ready for a committed relationship. Just be honest. Tell him that you see him as a friend only.

Let him know that you're not feelin' him in that kind of way, but that you would like to remain cool with him as a possible friend.

just tell him that you like being single for now and you really don't want to settle down. You just like having fun right now.

Just tell him that your sorry and it is not working. Be brief and clear as to the reason...that's if you want to stay friends...do not drag it out...that will make it worse. He should be okay with it unless he is carzy.
