Egg yolks are a valuable source of protein in their own right. It is a shame to throw these away. Yes they do have cholesterol but they are so full of lecithin which breaks down all fat that they shouldn't raise your cholesterol unless you are eating several a day and at the same time have cholesterol issues. They also contain vitamins and a pigment called lutein that is excellent for eye health. The egg white is just really protein and nothing else. You should avoid eating raw egg white as this contains a substance called AVIDIN which can result in you getting low on an essential B Vitamin called Biotin as it binds to Biotin in the body. Raw egg white is best taken cooked. To boost your muscle if you work out alot it would be better to source out whey protein.

Fat In Egg Yolk

The white part of the egg contains no fat what so ever, on the other hand, the yolk of an egg (yellow) contains about 5 grams of fat BUT only a small proportion of this is saturated fat (Bad Fat) - about 1.6 grams. Bodybuilders seeking to bulk up muscle are in particular need for fat in foods at a time when they have high-energy requirements for growth but limited appetites. Eggs contain cholesterol but it is generally accepted that dietary cholesterol does not raise blood cholesterol levels. Eggs are easily digested and absorbed and are extremely useful in ensuring a balanced diet for us bodybuilders.

In short keep the yolk in your diet, also do not drink eggs raw (Rocky style) ...the risk of Salmonella is too high.

Im sure everyone here has a good ans for you: The EGG is one of the best items u can eat: Eggs are basically 3-6 grams of protien if that. Very small amount. Egg whites are zero fat. People that eat the whole egg ( it's not going to effect you ) the avr person can eat this, but if your talking about athletes then thats a diff story. Good luck.

You should really only be eating the egg whites, because the yolks carry so much in fat and calories. If you feel it is wasteful to discard the yolks, you should buy a container of egg whites only. They sell it in almost any grocery store, and they taste so good!

The yolk is the more fattening part of the egg I f you are heavily working out though I would not think that it would be a problem. I am a yolk disgarder only because I do not like them I just like the whites.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Eggs are so cheap that you don't need to find it wasteful to discard the yolk. Another choice is using egg substitute, which is 99% egg white.

You should be O.K. The yolks is where the cholesterol is. The whites are the protein. If you are working out, I wouldn't worry too much. If you feel you are wasting, you could use one of the yolks and disguard the others. I feel the same way sometimes.
