When I was a young man I didnt know any one that had and Im told that crime has not gone up ............. they speak with forked tonge as tonto would say

I have never been mugged, burgled or carjacked (touch wood, I'll probably get mugged on the way home now). I haven't met anyone who has been carjacked (as far as I know), I only know of 1 person that has been mugged but several of my friends and family have been burgled.

Not even me. About 18 years ago, I came home from work one night to find my house ransacked, my underwear strewn all over the floor, and about $200 missing from my bedroom.
The police came, and said my husband must've done it. (NO WAY!) They didn't even take fingerprints, because they said that maybe they wouldn't find any to match them in their files. Never solved it. Promised me that detectives would come over in the morning. Never did even come over. Later, someone who knew gave me a really good idea of who did it. I told the police, but they said they probably couldn't prove it, so they didn't do anything.
I felt more violated because of my underwear being touched than I did because of the money missing.

only the one of the above burgled,by the sound youre wondering what are the goverment talking about,safety on our streets,i only know it being used as a excuse to bring in more laws to curtails our freedoms.

Most people I know have not been a victim of any crime, however, I have, I was viciously and mindlessly attacked when all I wanted to do was get home from work.

I don't know anyone who has been mugged or car jacked and I thank God for that. We had a neighbor who had two houses and the one they didn't live in had gotten broken in to and ruined that one was right next to our house when I was younger. I felt bad for them but I thank God we didn't get robbed but now I don't know anyone who has ethier.

I haven't.
Crime is not going up and in fact, violent crime is down over the past several decades. What has went up is reporting of and the ability to report those crimes.
