it definitely is chinese.
the really small feet that are bound are about 3". however the surviving ladies with their feet bound are usually about 4-5". this is because footbinding starts from a young age and has to be maintained throughout the period where the feet are still growing. however, due to the the politcal changes in china this century, footbinding became unpopular and some were forced to stop the process of footbinding. so these feets were only about 4-5" when the process stopped. and only these people are still surviving, so it is hard to find the 3" feet anymore.

I know some.

1. It certainly hurts. The binding sometimes make the bones crack and skin to bleed.

2. It makes the foot smaller.

3. During those days, women consider samll feet, "beautiful."
