I have a digital multimeter, a circuit diagram and a transistor. Actually I am confusing about which is the emitter and collector. I can find either the given transistor is PNP or NPN but problem is to find about which one of the ends is emitter. Please help

Check the diagram (drawing) of the transistor. Either the transistor is flat with an obvious front and back or if it is round, the three wires are not in a straight line, but the middle one is offset, giving a right, left, front, back. There are standards as to which is the emitter, which the collector and which the gate from that layout and you can find diagrams of housings online.
see ref. for a sample.

You can't tell using a multilmeter. You'll have to look up the specs or product data sheet. The junctions are the same polarity but if you get them mixed up, things won't work right.

the president, ofcourse you heard him say he is the decider...he is also the emitter.
