My Daughter is 3.5 years old. She will not go into the Men's room with me when she has to go potty. And, I obviously cannot go into the ladies room. I always try and get her to go before we leave the house. But, it has happened on occasion when we are outside the house she has to go ... and I have ended up dashing home for her. Any suggestions on this?

Alot of places have family restrooms that you can use. I read on a website (i can't remeber where) keep a potty chair in the car. They suggested to by "pee pads". Line the potty chair with a plastic grocery bag, then put a pad in it to absorb the urine. When she is done, you can just take the bag off, and throw it away!!! I thought that was a pretty good idea!! Hope this works for you and your daughter!!!

This can be a difficult problem for Moms and Dads everywhere. The suggestion of the potty chair to keep in the car is a good one, I know people who have done this. I have one friend who had this actually cause the child to want to go into the public restroom, as her son actually became self-conscious about using the potty chair when he was about four, and thus became more accepting of the public bathroom.

Target is very helpful with their family bathrooms, which Moms and Dads can use with their children without many problems. I know that a lot of restaurants and Malls are beginning to provide family bathrooms also. This is just an easier solution to all.

I don't know what the other answerer was talking about you watching your daughter.....I don't believe he read the entire question. Hope this helps, most children will outgrow these types of things, you just have to realize that all Moms and Dads do struggle with this type of thing at one time or another.

Well, you can certainly tell we need more "family" restrooms around this country, can't you? My son did not want to go potty in the mens room with my husband.

It was put to him like this "If you pee your pants and we have to go home for dry clothes, we will stay home. Pee here right now and continue with the fun." He peed right then.

I can tell you are a kind and caring Daddy, but you've taught her that you will take her home to pee. Now you have to undo that. Either she can pee her pants and go home, or pee in the stall with Daddy.
