Igot the hd box from cablevision NJ and i want to set it to 720p instead of 1080i. is this possible, if so, how?

It always helps to read the manual.

By setting it to 720p, you assume the box can do a better scaling/deinterlacing than your TV, which may not be the case.

Since you don't specify a brand name for your box it is tough to guess what you have. But go to the system menu and find the output options.

You don't really want it fixed on 720p. Aything not being broadcast in 720p will give u borders on the screen. But if you must set it to 720p. Turn off the cable box but leave the tv on. From the front of the box hold down guide and info<1st and 2nd buttons not 2nd and 3rd>. you will get a message on the screen, Press A then it will ask you if u want to do easy or advanced u do advanced press A on the next screen you willsee 1080i highlighted press SEL then B then keep pressing B until you read to select 720P press SEL. Press SEL then exit the CBL. Once the tv is back on press Settings 2x go to set picture format press right blue arrow and set it to fixed. You are now fixed on 720p. again I don't recomend it.
