How about: Because you're likely to get your head kicked in if you don't"?

2007-01-23 03:11:54 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 2 0

The work place deserves some considerations and respect because of being around a group of people for the sake of teamwork...teamwork works through honesty and pulling together to get things done...not crying and kicking feet and "you want me to do that?"
If a situation arises that things go missing and other petty crimes, honesty of each individual gets the problem solved quickly..they know who would be the one to do it not falsely accuse an individual
On the flip side: Someone needs help...I would rather accept help from someone who would want to offer honestly, consideration, and respectfully the help

The Golden Rule: Treat others as you would want to be treated yourself. (Hmm, that sounds a bit selfish, now that I think about it. So you could get the same treatment. But if we're casting political correctness aside, who wouldn't want to be treated NICE?) And it's more human and humane to do so. People have told me that I am actually quite fair with how I deal with others, because I'm generally nice - not fake nice, but cordial nice - to people I've just met, and will not have a "negative" reaction until you give me a valid reason to go "berserk". And most importantly, being gay has taught me that loving yourself will also teach you to love others. When I was outed, it was hard to pick up the pieces of my life together again, I cut off ties with my parents, lost my financial support, lost some "friends", but this "kindness of strangers" has helped me immensely to get to where I am right now. People who barely knew me, accepted me for who I am, took me in and supported me to nurse my self esteem back, and to get my life in order. I am a first hand recipient of the blessings that can come from the respect and consideration that strangers can give, So I think it's important that I give back to the world that very same blessing I received when I was at my lowest point. It's only fair. And right.

And not just in the workplace. This is the sort of behaviour should be applied without even thinking about it. In the workplace it is important as you are a long time there and it is better to be happy and get along with others by showing them all of the above. You can then expect to be treated in the same manner.

I cannot imagine working in an environment where this does not happen. 'Do and say unto others as you would have them do unto you'. Show a good example and others will follow you can be sure.

Do you want to be treated with honesty, respect, and consideration in the work place? And what about outside of work? Of course you do, as does everyone. These are all qualities that speak volumes about your character and traits that employers look for in their employees. It tells your employer and your co-workers that you are trust worthy and upstanding;a person with morals and values. I really think the answer to this question is obvious.

hello michelle,

It is important to treat others with honesty, respect & consideration in the work place because before you can have any of that, you have to earn it.

They may show it first but no one shows respect for long if they dont get it back. Respect comes first. Show some respect to your collegues and they in turn respect you for it.

Second comes honesty. If one lies, they are only lying to themselves and no one will know the real answer but themselves. No one will be bothered until the lie gets found out. The person lying pays a big price for not only being called a liar but some loss of respect and trust occurs. Honesty is important in that one gains trust from others.

In a work place the person is also seen as reliable. This means work situation improves which may lead to more recognition for the work accomplished and credit will then be given where its due. In certain situations this could lead to more responsiblities and rewards, promotions and perhaps more money too. Some may get favoured too which further improves the work envorinment. It is possible that one actually starts to enjoy the work.

To enjoy the work, we all need friends, not necessarily best pals but just someone you can talk to, spend lunch time with or even get help with work if one is stuck and dont understand it. If one gives a little of their time to somone or the work itself, it pays huge dividends. Friends are like gold in a work envoirnment. It is often difficcult to find someone who will give you their time. Not everyone will like you. but being friendly, does help. There maybe competiton, jealousy, or just sheer bad manners. No matter what the reason, if one shows considersation towards others, then it will also be returned.

Everyone is an individual and looking after themselves in wether at home or ouside of work or even a workplace. A helping hand, a kind word, a smile, is something many people appreciate. A smiling face just brightens up the work place. People get attracted to happy people and it rubbes off on them too. It is true that no one really wants to be working but we are all stuck, and we just want to enjoy it, get the work done and leave the place in a good frame of mind so it is easy to come back to the next day. This is only possible if we take on board all those with whom we work. To show a little consideration again means......you yourself will personally benefit from it in the long run.

I know i work hard, give my best and have fun with those i work with. We all respect one another and share even food!! I make the effort to please everyone, and when i need them, they are there for me too. I complete my work at the best of my abilty and with accuracy and in return I have been allowed a flexible approach to my work. I do as i please, basically!!....but within reason. Its up to me, but i dont abuse the system. Keeps my boss happy too.

Work is what one makes of it. If it is just a 9-5 job with no input then thats all it will be. A little effort goes a long way, and as we spend more time at work than we do at home, we do want to spend those vital hours doing something we like and enjoy. The people or the work may not be our ideal choice but if one is stuck in a job with no prospects, promotions, friends, etc...then they either change it by changing their attitude to work or they can leave.....

Because when you pass them on your way up the corporate ladder at some point you're going to have to meet them again on the way back down.
