its a stray and i cant take her to the hospital. i firts gave her sulphur and scratching reduced by 60% but seeing her whimper and biting herself,i called a NGO vet and described the condition..hair missing cut ears, face full of wounds and he felt it was mange as 90% dogs suffer from it ,when i told him that she has pink boils he was fully convinced and adviced half ivermectine for six weeks. 3 days back after the second dose i noticed she was scratching very little, but just 2 days back i saw increased itching and new attack just above her eye..its horrible to see her whole face full of bleeding wounds. now im desprate and giving her sulphur (which i had stopped for 10 days) i try sprinking sulphur on her, but am scared also that she may not like it and bite me. i dont want to call the animal ngo as i like seeing her every day and plan on curing her myself ,also they might not come . is it natural that mange has attacked a new area..? how many doses before her ordeal ends?

I realize you want to help this stray, but if you are unable to get her the proper vet care she really needs, then you should take her to the local shelter. You would be doing it in her best interest and she will no longer have to suffer from this.
Mange requires a great deal of treatment, such as bathing in medicated shampoos, and treating the open wounds. It can take some time, when treated properly, to get it to clear up.

She is never going to heal without appropriate treatment, which she isn't getting. Also, do you know what type of mange it is? If not, she needs to to get skin scrape test at the vet to determine what kind of mange it is. Some types of mange ARE contagious. So be careful!
She should be getting ivermectin (0.3 cc per 10lbs of her body weight) and an antibiotic, like cephalexin. An anitibiotic is extremely important. I work in a shelter, so I know first hand. If she is a herding breed (like a collie), she should NOT use ivermectin. She also needs a special mite shampoo. There are several different types, and you need to consult with the vet to figure out exactly which one to use and you will need to purchase the shampoo most likely from the vet office (along with all the meds).
Please take the dog to a vet. It is very sick, and suffering needlessly. With all the open wounds, it needs a pain medicine as well. Take Care!

Hi,
The mange is very hard to get under control! You have toe go to your vet and get a product called mitaband, and treat them everyday. You also need to clean your carpets if she is inside because the mange is very contageous. It is little bugs "parasites" that eat flesh. If you don't wont to take her to the vet then you'll hvae to get this product and treat her everyday without missing a treatment or your efforts will be wasted. Also to control the itching you can give her 1 Benedryil cap and it will help some, it will also make her drowsy with maybe she can get some rest. This will not help the mange though only the itching. The soon you get started the better off she will be, call the vet TODAY and get the midaban and follow the directions to the tee.

With mange, not only do you have to worry about treating the parasite, but you also have to treat any secondary bacterial infections (caused by her scratching and biting at her skin).
Why can't you take her to the vet? It's only usually about 20 or 30 dollars for a dog to be seen by a vet, and mange treatment is fairly inexpensive. There are two different varieties of mange (with different treatments and prognosis for both) and the only way to be sure that you are treating the right kind of mange is to have the dog evaluated at the vet's.
There are also lots of other doggie conditions that can mimic mange; allergies for one.
The best thing that you can do for this dog would be to take her to the vet, where they can give her a steroid shot to reduce the itching, special injections to kill the mange (ivermectin injections), and antibiotics for any secondary infections.
If Ivermectin isn't working (and it didn't work for my dog) you might want to talk to your vet about prescribing Revolution. It's a topical treatment that is applied between the shoulder blades. It's an anti-flea and tick medication, but it also is very effective at treating the most common type of mange. My vet gave it to my dog every two weeks for two months, and the mange was completely healed by the end of those two months. Revolution is prescription only in the US but it's available without a prescription through overseas online vet pharmacies.
Hope this helps...

I'm sorry to say but you cant cure her on your own. the mange mite is a feisty little critter called the sarcoptes scabei mite. a prolonged veterinary licensed treatment is needed to control the mite...this will take a while and not something that can be cured in one treatment. no pet store equivalent will help, its not legally allowed to be strong enough.
reading your statement it sounds she may have a secondary skin infection which also needs treating.
the best thing you can do is to take her to the vets. i have seen a server case of mange and it may turn into a welfare issue if not treated now. she is probably so itchy and will make her depressed and start self harming i.e chewing/biting causing trauma to the skin.
sulphur has no lasting effect and may irritate the skin further. the mite is a burrowing mite in the skin so will not control the problem.
get her seen asap.
also this is a zoonotic mite i.e transferable from animal to human, so you are at risk from contracting the mite to!!!!!!!!

she may have the worst form of mange but that can only be diagnosed by a skin scraping being put under the microscope. Call your local animal shelter or SPCA and have them come pick her up and you need to be very careful as certain types of mange are contagious to humans so I hope that you are wearing gloves to handle her. If she is suffering from what is called Saricofic Mange (I hope that I spelled it correctly) then there is no cure and it is highly, highly contagious to humans, but like a said earlier the only way to find out what kind she has is for a vet to get a skin scraping and put it under the microscope and see.

Gosh that's quite a problem.
Have you tried getting Revolution from the vet's office? It's a clear liquid you apply to the back of a pet's neck. It's absorbed through the skin. It kill fleas, ticks, earmites and mange mites.
It costs about $15 a pop and is applied once a month. You MUST purchase this from a veterinarian; the stuff they sell at the pet store is only a cheap imitation.
Good luck :)

Sounds like you have some 'bad sectors' or 'bad file sectors' on your hard drive. Have you ran an ERROR CHECK yet? If not, go to MY COMPUTER, Right-click your C drive and Click PROPERTIES/// Click ERROR CHECKING,,, Put tics in BOTH boxes. The first tic tells it to fix file errors, the 2nd tic tells it to fix bad sectors. Restart and let it complete this. What happens is when you install a program on your computer, Windows will throw the files onto your hard drive in no particular order. So when you click on the program, Windows must now locate all the files the program needs and brings them back together for the program to run. Defrag simply puts these files as close together as possible so your program will load up much quicker. If there's a bad sector, then defrag can't complete, so fixing the bad sector first, then defragging should work for you.
