All you can do is assure them that they are worth having around. Do they have a hobby? Ask them and maybe see if they can turn it into a career. That's pretty much all you can do, and just be there for them.

By being supportive. The greater number of people who talk about doing it never will, they merely want attention. The greater majority of people who commit suicide, never talk about it or even let on they are feeling anything less than great. Keep a close watch on them and if things get too surreal, get them to a professional asap. The problem is that people just don't help their friends enough and are afraid to help someone in real need. Dang, when friends feel that way, that is when true friends will always be available.

One idea is have them talk to people who are going through the same thing.Group therapy is a good way to help you not feel so alone. You give up because you feel like no one can possibly know how you feel, no matter how innocent their intentions.Try to get them to a therapy class, where they can relate to others who have the same problems. It changes your outlook when you really realize you arent alone.
