The VERY BEST method I know of is: watch where he is scratching and lay some strips of 2-sided tape across this whole area of the door. Cats HATE sticky things on their feet and he will leave the darn door alone. Also, you need to get him at least 1 wooden, and a couple different scratching posts. This is a NECESSITY for cats. Otherwise, next it's gonna be the furniture, guaranteed. A cat HAS to scratch. They pretty much take care of their own manicuring needs, if you provide the proper equipment. Good luck to you.

Something I know works very well, that is if you dont mind spending a little and putting a little work into it, is to mount clear plastic to the door or wall. It looks good because it is clear, and all it does is give off a bit of shine. When you cat goes to paw the door its paws will slip intead of digging into the door. Just put it where the cat does its work.

In spite of the slew of products out there to deter pets from going places and doing things, the best way I have found is a strip or two (or more) of duct tape, hung with the sticky side out. Once your cat has enough of the stickey paws, the pawing should stop.

Curious to know what's behind the door...

Leave the doors open. Don't you listen to what she says? Cats hate closed doors. Just watch - open the door and the cat will rush in; close it and she'll want to come out again.

I've never tried to stop this, but you could try putting two sided tape on the surfaces you don't want scratched until they learn to leave it alone. They won't like the sticky surface.
