I put a gallon of milk in the fridge at work so i can have cereal and oatmeal in the morning for breakfast. I was out sick on monday, and when i came in on Tuesday, half my milk was gone. I walked around to find out what happened, and apparently they had choclate cake for a birthday and it was put out on the table for everyone to have. I am really upset, as i have never taken anyone's food, and I would expect the same from everyone else. Yes, The milk was labled loud and clear with my name in permanent marker. I am thinking about putting a sign on the fridge, (no profanity, I do like my job) or doing something for revenge. Any ideas???

That's why I don't put things in the community fridge - There have been plenty of times when I'll put something in there, and it's stolen. I think it's very rude. I equate it to someone walking around a parking lot and picking out a car to drive that day - it's not theirs, but it's in the community lot, why shouldn't they drive it? If you steal something out of a fridge, it's the same thing - on a smaller scale.

You can't be mad at the people who drank the milk, but at the idiot who ignored the name on the jug, and pulled it out of the fridge. I'm sure there were people who drank it who didn't know it wasn't for the party.

My suggestion is to put a note on the fridge and call them out. Sarcasm works well - people will come up to you and apologize for drinking the milk. If you work in a large office, you might want to ask around and see if anyone has a private fridge in their cube that you can use for 1/2 gal. of milk. Or, if you can afford it, buy your own camp fridge and put it under your desk.

Unfortunately, people are rude, and have no common sense.

I totally agree with you. But people are how they are. The idea of leaving a note on the fridge is a good one. But remember a few squares of ExLax in a thing of chocolate milk work wonders:)

I worked at a place where a guy was constantly getting his lunch stolen. One day he made tuna sandwiches and mixed in some cat crap from the litter box. Never had his lunch taken again.

Keep putting food in there and maybe mix in some laxatives. I guarantee you they will never take it again. Walk in the break room during the day and see if anyone is eating your stuff and catch them! Then seek revenge.

Place milk in a plastic container with your name on it. The plastic container will indicate that it is not public material.

How about eating breakfast at home and circumventing the whole thing instead of feeding your colleagues ex-lax. Just eat at home, and if you need a snack, bring some fruit or crackers...something inconspicuous that you can leave at your desk. Problem solved.
