if a woman acts and talks and plays up the role traditionally thought of as MAN , like a strong willed alpha - will that pull for the man to move into a more submissive role unless he amps up his alpha role?

or if a man acts like a wussy or feminine - does that drive the female to act more manly and pull her into a more masculine alpha role?

in other words:

Girls? does a macho he man bring out the "girl" role in you?

Guys? does a really feimine girly woman bring out the strong macho role in you?

Can two same types exist in each others company or not? And what is it like for you when a member of the opposite sex is acting like the same sex as you?

I've read that two alphas do not a good relationship make. Someone will always end up being the beta. And if the man has to be the beta while the woman takes the lead, so be it. Macho men bring out my violent, man-eating side. They annoy the crap out of me. (Although I must say that, while I'm an alpha in life, I don't mind being a beta in bed.)

this is an interesting and complex question and can only be answered subjectively. This means that my answer cannot be generalized to all men. A true feminine girly woman puts me at ease to be myself whatever I am. Only a submissive asshole would accept dominance of a strong willed alpha woman. Such a woman if I had to live with for some reason would castrate me psychologically, so if the woman is hoping to have it its own way she may end up not getting any.
I think if women want to play power games they should leave that for the workplace or for other women don't mix power struggle and love is toxic combination. Be assertive of your rights but give your man his due respect you will reap lots of benefits.

I am a girly girl but very independent and willful at the same time.

To a certain extent I guess a guy taking a little more control of situations does bring out the 'girly' side of me. But only to a certain extent. The second anyone starts to try and control me or tell me what to do my willful side comes into play and I no longer act quite as girly.

I think in any relationship, no matter which sex does it, someone has to take control of situations and the other person lets them do it.

Wow, this is truly a fascinating question and I had to ponder this for a moment.

I would venture to say that for me, absolutely....a macho or alpha guy will totally bring out the precocious, coy, and demure side of me. Its very stimulating I guess. I love a man that has his sh!t together and is not afraid to whip me in to shape when needed!!!

Nothing abusive of course, but a guy that can convincingly reign me in when needed.

Sure, I've dated the sensitive/artsy/brainy type and while the conversation is cerebral, I find myself not feeling that instinctive carnal attraction I'd crave.

Now, while I like a macho guy....he just can't simply be that. He'd ofcourse would still need to be a gentleman, and with something intellectual to bring to the table.

Yeah, but a guy that I feel safe with and would protect me coupled with some sensitivity and brains is the ideal one for this girl!

That's kind of funny. My hubby and I have a lot of stereotypical role reversals. He cleans house, I take care of the cars and yard. He is meek (not weak) and I am strong willed. He is always the alpha in my eyes no matter what roles we play. He is a tough muscular man and when I am in his arms I become all girl.

Look, EVERYONE has some traits that have been labeled "masculine" and some traits that have been labeled "feminine." Everyone. Many gay men are gentler and less belligerent than many straight men, but that doesn't define their orientation. And.. it's not ACTING. Some societies considered non-hetero people to be more balanced; in many earlier cultures, gay or bisexual people were shamans because we were born with 'two spirits' and were considered able to walk between worlds. Instead of trying to stick people in pigeonholes, consider the possibility that we aren't pigeons...

IF A WOMEN IS ACTING THE ROLE OF A MALE THAT WOULD NOT BE OF ANY INTEREST TO ME. ON THE OTHER HAND IF SHE WAS ACTING THE ROLE OF A LADY THAN THAT WOULD BE THE FIRST THING I WOULD NOTICE.
THE GIRLY WOMEN AS YOU PUT IT WOULD ENTICE ME TO MAKE THE FIRST MOVE. A WOMEN THAT ACTS LIKE A WOMEN AND TAKES PRIDE IN HERSELF AND HER APPEARANCE IS DEFINITELY A TURN ON. WOMEN ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CREATURES ON EARTH AND HAVING THE COMPANY OF ONE THAT ACTS AND LOOKS THE PART IS A BLESSING IN ITSELF...

the dance is amazing

the more I do "man" the more she can do "woman"
the more she does "man" the less I can do "man"
the more she does "woman" the more I can do "man"
the more I do "woman" the less she can do "woman"

us both playing these roles to the max is key for romantic *spark*

in romantic context I play alpha & she plays beta...... this is non negotiable
